No installation support from Kent

The box was delivered on 23rd July. Amazon sent me a copy of the service request raised on Kent dated 23rd. Today is 26th. No one from Kent has contacted me. Their 1800 number does not work. No matter what you punch in the IVR recording tells you that I have not punched anything and disconnects. Its been doing that for 3 days now.

I am not sure what to do with the box lying in the store. Once again ,fancy products and Hema Malini does not mean that you will actually get any service at all.…

i also got the delivery without the 7 litre tank

I also got the item without the 7 litre tank. I had to pay extra and order the tank through the local Kent agency.

Piece of CRAP, poor engineering, unreliable product, expensive maintenance

I had 7 service visits in first 12 months of operation. Fine, it had 12 months warranty, but my worst fears are coming true now (after 18 months of use). Almost all those service visits were to fix a water-loss issue, where the unit was needlessly draining water. It emptied my 1500L overhead tanks in a day. I didn't realise the problem for quite some time. Once they say its faulty high pressure switch. Then they say its solenoid valve. Then something else, blah blah the list goes on.
The product is out of warranty now and the issue of unstoppable drain reoccurred 2weeks ago. The service technician says solenoid valve needs to be replaced, which costs Rs.300. Service fee Rs.450. He says they usually last 6months. That means I have to shell out Rs.1500 every year. The dealer says buy AMC which costs Rs.1800 upon which service fee will not be charged. What an idea Sirji !!
A solenoid valve is a humble device with one moving part. Many of household appliances have this part and they last as long as the product does. I wonder what terrible engineering one has to do to make a valve last for 6months.

New problem now.. the unit is always ON, but no filtration happening. The white tank is empty and restarting the device makes no difference. I have misgivings on purchasing KENT. No idea what this is going to cost.
Sales guys are also liars. I have recoded my conversation with sales guy who said 80% water is recovered when used on municipal drinking water and only 20% goes waste. Whereas on borewell water with 700ppm TDS 50% goes waste. My borewell water with 700ppm TDS has ~70% wastage whereas with 1100ppm, 82% is wasted. Thats criminal wastage of water in a country like India.

*** 2-weeks Later Update ***
Unsurprisingly, the unit stopped filtering water, just 2-weeks after the solenoid valve failed. The manual says there will be beeps when the time for filter-replacement comes or in case of malfunction but there were none. I just woke up to find that the white tank was empty and the unit wasn't filtering despite being ON. After complaint and arguments with the company rather than dealer, a service manager visited our place, had a cosmetic look at the unit and said "The unit needs to be serviced". I exclaimed "Wow! What an analysis and discernment !! ". On 6th day the service technician arrived to tell me that the unit stopped working as it got jammed by dirt in the water. He suggested replacing all filters and membrane costing ~Rs.3400. He also said that a wire harness got burnt and need replacement. Now, a harness getting burnt is unusual. By inspecting he revealed that as the unit was continuously ON when it got jammed a choke heated up and burnt the wire harness that touched it. Huh.. ludicrous engineering. Cost of harness by Kent: Rs.250. You wont believe.. you can make the same wire connector (harness) at home for less than Rs.15 (or get it done from an electronics workshop for Rs.20). Thats right. Fifteen rupees.

Turns out I cannot be more right than I was with Solenoid valves of Kent. The valve that was replaced just 2weeks ago was replaced again as the service technician found it has malfunctioned. Fortunately they give 3mo warranty on replacement parts. Anyways, this is too much of crap to bear.

*** end of update ***

Reverse osmosis is no rocket science, but Kent technicians want you to believe otherwise. The dealer says "it gives you pure mineral water from borewell water and that is a complex process and has many complex parts. Something can go wrong sometimes". Thats what I call deception & a pack of lies. The guy also asked my why I was angry when "your machine has worked without problem for 9 months".

Looks like Kent's business model is to sell a poor product and then leech customers with spares and maintenance. If you are a consumer keep out of Kent. If you are a dealership, get in early and get out early to make some money. I would be surprised if the company lasts a few more years with this poor products.
According to my dealer, the sales was incorrect to say that no yearly maintenance is expected. On starck contrast he said that, on average, Kent RO machines' operating cost is Rs.4000 per year.

I would suggest buyers to look for other brands like Aquaguard and IonExchange. The latter one has been giving troublefree service at my friends home for many years.

WORST PRODUCT & COMPANY

We bought this expensive machine yesterday and the installation guy came today. He was rushing to complete the installation and spent 15 minutes and just wanted to run away as he already knew that something is going to be wrong about every machine.

Same thing happened. Once he left and the tank was getting filled the first time- It started leaking all across the cabinet. Since it is a under sink installation it is all the more worst.

When I called the guy he said to put a service request and once I called the customer care. They said there is a TAT of 24 hrs for URGENT requests.

I do not know when we would have these companies understand the meaning of the word Quality & Service.

Whatever they do. My first impression of the product & Service is here. I dnt know what else to see.

I wish I had believed in all the reviews written. Sorry My bad on that:(

NEXT DAY- when i follow up. They say we do not have your request and we are putting it again.

For reference Service request number - 170220 03486 Mob- 9999565007…

Dear Customers,
Stay away from this product.
First , Kent service is slow.
Second, this product is not durable. I have had this product for just over a year.
My usage has been minimum as I travel a lot. I just got a service bill of Rs 4000 to fix the RO system.
Thats 25 % of the product. And I am sure this will be an annual recurrence!!!!
