Huawei is expected to launch two new Nova series smartphones in China before the end of this month: Nova 5 and Nova 5i. The Nova 5 had been spotted on TENAA last month, although the agency is yet to list the smartphone’s key specifications. Huawei’s upcoming Nova 5i has now appeared on TENAA, revealing almost all its key specifications.

Huawei Nova 5i Specs Revealed by TENAA

The Huawei Nova 5i listing on TENAA reveals the upcoming smartphone will feature a 6.4-inch sized display featuring 1080 x 2310 pixels Full HD+ resolution. Under the hood, it will have an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. Although the name of the chipset has not been specified, it is likely that the Nova 5i will have a 12nm Kirin 710 processor inside. The smartphone will be available in two memory configurations in China: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage. Further storage expansion, however, will not be supported.

Moving on to optics, the Nova 5i will have a quad-camera setup on the back with a 24-megapixel primary sensor. It will also have an 8MP secondary and two additional 2MP resolution sensors. On the front will be a 24MP snapper for selfies and video calls. As far as the physical dimensions of the smartphone are concerned, the Nova 5i measures 159.1 x 75.9 x 8.3mm and weighs 178 grams. The Nova 5i listing on TENAA also tells us the smartphone will pack an impressive 3900mAh capacity battery. On the software front, the mid-range smartphone will be running on Huawei’s latest EMUI 9.0 custom skin based on Android 9.0 Pie. This isn’t surprising since Huawei’s Android replacement isn’t expected to be ready for prime time until the end of the third quarter. Color options listed on TENAA include Black, Red, and Blue.

Huawei Nova 5 Teaser Video Released

Huawei today released a teaser video for its upcoming Nova 5 smartphone on its Weibo page. According to a recently leaked spec sheet of the device, it will sport a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with an under-display fingerprint scanner. Powering the Nova 5 will be a 7nm Kirin 980 octa-core processor, the same chipset that powers the company’s Mate 20 and P30 series flagship phones. In the camera department, the Nova 5 is likely to come with a 48MP primary sensor. Keeping the lights on could be a 4200mAh non-removable battery with impressive 44W fast charging support.
