LG V40 for Verizon Wireless Appears on Geekbench

A new Geekbench listing of the LG V40 ThinQ confirms several core hardware specifications about the unannounced flagship LG smartphone with five cameras

LG‘s next high-end smartphone, the LG V40 ThinQ, should make an official appearance early next month. The Korean tech giant hinted about a launch on October 4. We at MSP Gear were the first to report about the first credible images of the LG V40 ThinQ last month. A new listing on the Geekbench, offers a few more details about the as yet unannounced LG flagship smartphone that is currently codenamed as LGE LM-V405.

A new listing on the on the popular Geekbench benchmark database appears to confirm the core hardware specifications of the LGE LM-V405. The codename has persistently been linked to the upcoming flagship LG smartphone, the LG V40 ThinQ. Previous reports showed a leaked image mentioning the hardware specifications of the LG V40 ThinQ, and the just uploaded listing on the popular benchmarking platform corroborates the same. Incidentally, the LGE LM-V405 could be headed to the USA, and more specifically, Verizon Wireless. The model number ‘LMV405UA’, which is expected to be the upcoming flagship LG V40 for Verizon Wireless, was spotted in a leaked document.

LG V40 ThinQ (LGE LM-V405): Geekbench Listing Confirms Octa-Core Snapdragon 845 SoC

The listing on Geekbench confirms that the flagship LG smartphone will indeed be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor. The chipset appears to be clocked at a base frequency 1.77GHz.

Apart from the confirming the presence of a Snapdragon 845 chipset, the Geekbench listing also mentions the smartphone packs 5,645MB or 6GB of RAM and runs on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The LG V40 ThinQ prototype managed an impressive single-core score of 2397 and a multi-core score of 8045. Needless to mention, these are highly impressive scores, and are very much in line in what buyers can expect from an 845 chipset paired with 6GB RAM.

LG V40 ThinQ: Rumoured Specifications, Features

LG implicitly confirmed back in May that the V40 ThinQ will sport an OLED screen. The reportedly 6.4 inches will have QHD+ resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The phone will sport small but noticeable bezels as well as a tiny notch. As mentioned above, the phone will also have a rear mounted fingerprint sensor, which will be backed up by a Voice Unlock as well as Face Unlock.

Previous reports as well as the Geekbench listing confirms the powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset will power the smartphone. There’s some discrepancy about the clock speed, but we expect the SoC may run at 2.8GHz, and will work with Adreno 630 GPU. The listing also confirms 6GB RAM, and previous reports mention 128GB of internal storage.

The biggest highlight of the LG V40 ThinQ is undeniably the cameras. The smartphone is rumored to sport as many as five cameras in total. It will have three lenses at the rear and two on the front. The primary sensor at the rear will be a 12MP unit with an f/1.5 aperture and 1.4um pixel size. The secondary 16MP sensor will sport 1.0um pixel size and an f/1.9 aperture. The third sensor will reportedly be a 12MP unit with 1.0um pixel size and an f/2.4 aperture. The triple-camera setup at the rear will allow for 2x zoom and “Smart functionality” as well. For selfies, the V40 ThinQ will feature an 8MP + 5MP dual-camera setup.

A 3,300mAh battery could power the smartphone. The smartphone reportedly measures 158.7×75.8×7.79mm and weighs in at 169 grams. It could run Android 9 Pie operating system out of the box. The V40 will come with an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

LG V40 ThinQ: Expected Price in India

We expect LG V40 ThinQ may cost somewhere around Rs.50,000 in India. As for the launch date, we expect the flagship smartphone may arrive in India before the end of the year or by early next year. Its predecessor, the LG V30 Plus launched in India in December last year at Rs.44,990.

Internationally, the LG V40 ThinQ is rumored to arrive at a dedicated event in early October. Rumors insists the V40 ThinQ will go on sale in South Korea starting October 5. However, recently leaked renders of the upcoming smartphone suggest the smartphone may launch on November 16 instead.
