Micromax A116 is the latest edition in the very successful Canvas line of smartphones from Micromax. The phone just like the other in its series is popular for a larger screen similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note line of phones. Micromax A116 Campus HD has a 5.0 " IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with display resolution of Full HD or 720 x 1280 pixels. The display has pixel density of approximately 294 ppi. The phone runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and houses a 1.2 GHz quad core processor by Media tek and a 1 GB RAM to provide the necessary power to run the phone.
Camera and Multimedia
The phone has a 8 MP primary camera with the necessary features such as auto focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus as well as face and smile detection. The camera can also record videos but comes with no specific additional features for video recording. On the front, the phone sports a VGA secondary camera for video calls which is fairly low key. Micromax A116 Canvas HD is a great phone for watching videos thanks to its large screen and also supports formats such as MP4, WMV, H.264 and H.263. Micromax A116 Canvas HD is a fairly domestic phone with network support for dual band 2G on both its Sim Slots. Characteristic of modern phones, the phone also supports 3G networks. The users can browse the internet thanks to network support via GPRS, EDGE, 3G and Wifi networks. The phone provides additional connectivity options for users to share data such as Bluetooth 3.0 and micro USB 2.0.
Battery and Storage
The phone has a 2100 mAh battery that provides a 6 hour back up time. The battery is just sufficient for regular usage with periodic charge. The phone also has 4 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded via micro SD card by up to 32 GB.
