Motorola Nexus 6 Details

The Motorola Nexus 6 is the sixth generation of Google's Nexus lineup of stock Android smartphones, which offer the latest and greatest version of the operating system in its unadulterated form.
The Nexus 6 is the largest Nexus smartphone ever, with a 6-inch display that makes it nearly as large as a tablet and makes it perfect for videos and games. It's the first Nexus smartphone to have a Quad HD (2560x1440 pixels) display, which means that despite the big screen, images come out extremely sharp no matter what content you might be viewing. The display employs AMOLED technology, making it more colourful and vivid than most of the phone's predecessors.
A Snapdragon 805 processor powers the Nexus 6, with four operating cores clocked at 2.7GHz. Since the phone runs Android in its stock avatar, it is extremely smooth, fluid and fast at everything, from opening basic apps to running the most graphically intensive games. The Nexus 6 is also the first device in the series to feature 3GB of RAM, making multitasking a great experience as it can keep a lot of apps running in the background without slowing down.
The Nexus 6 boasts a very capable camera as well, with a 13-megapixel sensor on the rear that takes detailed photos. The camera has an f2.0 lens that captures more light than competing cameras, and also comes with optical image stabilization that reduces blur in images and videos. A special HDR+ mode allows users to take photos that have a higher dynamic range. The front camera isn't as great with a 2-megapixel resolution, but it still takes impressive selfies and produces a clear video stream when you're video calling with your friends and family.
The phablet comes with 32GB of internal storage, which like previous Nexus phones is not expandable. However, users can take advantage of Google's cloud storage service Drive, which offers free unlimited storage for photos up to 16-megapixel in size. The smartphone features dual front-facing speakers for stereo sound, and its design curves in a way that makes it comfortable to hold despite the gargantuan display. There is a 3,200 mAh battery in the device for keeping the lights on, with quick charging support that enables up to 6 hours of use with only 15 minutes of charging.
The Nexus 6 is the world's first smartphone to run Android 5.0 Lollipop, which introduces a beautiful new user interface and a slew of interesting features, such as support for notifications on the lockscreen and a battery saver mode. It is guaranteed to get an update to Android M, and is one of the best devices you can buy if you want to enjoy Google's awesome and popular web services. It has 4G LTE bands that supports faster connectivity compared to 3G.

Best ever phone !
Nexus 6 - The best of Android release ever “Lollipop” running on a phone with the top notch specs amongst all the current devices and still way cheaper than closest contenders the Note 4 and iPhone 6Plus

Writing this review after close to a month of usage

Who should not buy?

-Those who need the additional gimmicky features on their phones and willing to compromise on the user experience and with patience to bear the lag even with daily tasks like calls, messaging, taking and viewing photos and who doesn’t care about the awesome material design – Can buy Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC etc.

-Those who need even better performance at a very high price and willing to compromise on lots of important features like Bluetooth file transfer, wifi direct, NFC, wireless charging or even use their phone as mass storage device etc. and willing to spend 3k for a charger if they lose one – Can buy iPhone

-Those who need a phone which is a stable performer for daily use with better camera but willing to stay without google services (Gmaps, Drive etc) and compromise on few missing apps or poor quality of the available apps and lack of few features – Can buy Lumia

And all those with tiny hands please think twice even if you want to buy – Consider Moto X

Who should buy?

-Those who need a premium phone with best specs to support all apps and games for at least 2 years from now and willing to deal with the large size of the phone without stylus and fingerprint scanner.

-Those who want to experience how beautiful and impressive the material design of the Lollipop really is in its purest form and who want to get the latest android updates first on their devices even if they might be buggy sometimes at the time of initial release.

-Those who need an android phone with buttery smooth performance at all the times and for all actions, but willing to compromise on some of the less useful features like smart stay, air gestures, pressure, UV, heart rate sensors etc.

Adding some more points for those willing to buy.

Yes, it’s a large phone and not very convenient for single handed usage but it will bother you only for the first few days.
The phone feels light and slim. Once you get used to it, trust me you can never go back to a smaller phone and you will never feel it’s too large.

#Design - The design is simplistic yet elegant, curved back feels good in hand and the phone feels very thin, the metal frame gives a solid and premium feel.
There is a downside with the curved back, the phone wobbles and rotates when you start typing with the phone lying on the desk.

#Display – It is so amazing that the moment you start using it you will never regret about the large size. You might never need your tablet or even laptop for anything.
There is a pink tint when you turn the brightness to lowest with adaptive brightness turned on, this is nothing major to complain and you can choose to turn off the adaptive brightness.
Ambient display is not well implemented; Double tap to wake is sorely missed.

#Sound - Front firing speakers are really loud and impressive, call quality is good. You will be pleased with the sound quality of the headphone given in the box.

#Camera – 13MP camera on the rear is a huge leap from previous nexus devices in terms of image quality. Camera is not fast and the HDR mode is on slower side.
You can take amazing snaps in the day but the low light images might disappoint you. Front camera does very good job thought its 2MP.
Having OIS in it you can definitely expect improvements in low light images in future updates.

#Battery – Battery life is just decent for a device this size with 2k resolution, I am able to get through a day for my usage. However sometimes it’s unpredictable. You can expect a maximum of 4-5 hrs of screen on time.
Turbocharger is really handy and the phone charges up really quick. Battery life improvements are expected in upcoming 5.1 update.

#Performance –You will absolutely love the animations and the looks of material design. Everything is superfast except that phone dialer takes slightly longer time to launch.
I did have some apps crashing, reboots and lag before the 5.0.1 update but after the update there are no issues noticed.

I was very skeptical about buying this phone at first due to the size (moved from the Moto G). Read many a review which criticized how large the phone actually was. When I received it, it indeed seemed very large, however, have gotten so used to it now that anything smaller just doesn't seem right. So I would surely recommend this phone.

i bought this phone during the end of January 2015, the phone developed a problem in April 2015 (well under the expiry of the devices warranty period), there was a green vertical line running through the screen for no apparent reason, the phone has never been dropped or misused by me, the service center at Dadar (E), Mumbai doesnt know their ass from their elbow, they have been promising me for a month and a week (as of today) that they are getting the part / device replacement, i have also called Motorola customer care and after multiple calls they have sent me a mail that my problem has been sorted and the issue is closed, WHEN IT HAS NOT BEEN!!!! they Motorola after sales service sucks!!! please DO NOT BUY A MOTOROLA PRODUCT, you will be happy only until the device works properly, I URGE YOU NOT TO BUY!!!!

great device with several manufacturing issues
currently on my sixth Nexus 6 . love the screen , speakers and speed . hate the persistently present manufacturing issues like

1. screen flicker on charging with the supplied turbo charger - present in 5 of the devices I returned and the present one

2. display bezel and metal frame misalignment - present in 5 of the Nexus 6's

3. overheating on charging with turbo charger. present on all the devices

4. sim tray color mismatch or poor fit with the phone frame - present in 4 devices

5. extremely unprofessional and intolerable after sales service . kept one of my devices for a month at the service center in Delhi before replacing with another faulty device .

on the whole Motorola has screwed up with this one big time .

I ordered it from the US - Awesome!
This phone is just awesome at performance! The build is extremely premium quality according to me and also the metal lining around the edges of the phone.
Usually in Nexus phones the camera is a huge issue but in this one - Nexus 6, The camera is improved! We can say that the camera is good and also that it takes good pictures in enough light!
