Design and Specifications
The Nokia Asha 501 is a colorful smartphone from Nokia. The device comes has a unibody construction and comes in various colour variations of either yellow, red, blue, green, white and black, just like the Lumia 620. A volume rocker and wake up button of matching colors are finely integrated into the right side of the phone. The phone features a 3-inch QVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The device runs the latest version of the Asha platform, which is based on the Series 40 Operating system and it is powered by 512MB of RAM with a 1GHz processor. The phone features hot-swappable dual-SIM functionality.
Camera and Multimedia
The Nokia Asha 501 features a 3.2 MP QVGA fixed-focus primary camera without flash. The camera is good enough to take the pictures in daylight conditions. The phone, however, doesn't have a secondary camera at the front. The phone has a speaker surrounding the panel button, which you cannot see but the sound obtained is loud and not distorted. The phone also has a 3.5mm audio jack.The device has a FM tuner so that you can listen to live radio streams. The device comes with all regular audio and video codecs for formats such as MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC and MP4, H.263 and WMV.
Connectivity and Features
The phone is enabled with all the basic connectivity features such as GPRS, EDGE, 3G and 2G network connections. The device also has a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for Internet and data transfer respectively. The phone has 2 home screens, one with normal icons and the other featuring a screen called "fast life", which is a dashboard that shows all of your activity and is a location from which you can change music tracks directly. The also comes with an all new Nokia Express browser that brings forth many UI enhancements and easier navigation.
Battery and Storage
The phone offers 17 hours of talk time and 48 hours of standby time. Nokia has always been keen on battery performance, and the Asha 501 continues that trend by featuring a battery that is more than sufficient for the device. Nokia Asha 501 comes with a 4GB microSD card included in the box.
