Huawei has hinted at the launch of the Honor 5A and Honor 5A Plus smartphones on June 12 at a press event in China, through a teaser it released on June 7 on Chinese social media site, Weibo.
The Honor 5A and Honor 5A Plus have already been introduced via their certification announcements on the TENAA website (China’s gadget certification authority) in May. An official launch date of the Honor 5A Plus is expected to be confirmed while the launch of the Honor 5A will happen on June 12 according to the teaser.
The Android v5.1 Lollipop-powered Honor 5A is a mid-range smartphone that will feature a 5-inch HD IPS display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, expandable 16GB of internal storage, and a 2,200mAh battery, in addition to a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel secondary camera, and Huawei’s Emotion UI. It is a dual-SIM phone that supports 4G VoLTE networks. The Honor 5A measures 143.8x72x8.9mm, weighs 138g, and comes with a polycarbonate body.
The 4G LTE-enabled Honor 5A Plus will run Android v6.0 Marshmallow OS. It has a 5.5-inch HD display, a 1.8GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded to 128GB, and a bigger 3,000mAh battery in addition to 13-megapixel and 8-megapixel rear and front cameras. The Honor 5A Plus has dimensions of 154.3 x 77.1 x 8.45mm and weighs 168 g.
Although the price of the phones is expected to be announced at the event, the phones are being targeted at the lower-end market and is expected to be CYN 699 (approximately Rs. 7,000).
Huawei’s Honor brand also consists of the Honor 6, Honor 6 Plus, Honor 4A and Honor 5X smartphones that have been quite popular.
