Xiaomi Redmi 3s announced in China, features fingerprint scanner and 4100mAh battery


Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi have just announced the Redmi 3s, a variant of the Redmi 3, in China. Two variants of the Redmi 3s are available; one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, priced at 699 Yuan (USD 106/Rs. 7,120 approximately) and another with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, priced at 899 Yuan (USD 136 or Rs. 9,165 approximately). The internal storage in both variants is expandable up to 128GB.

The Redmi 3s sports a 5-inch HD screen in a full metal magnesium alloy unibody design, is 8.5mm thick, and weighs 144 grams. The phone features a hybrid SIM slot that lets you use the secondary nano SIM slot as a microSD slot when required. The Redmi 3S is powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 430 system on chip. The phone runs MIUI 7, based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

The Redmi 3s features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and Phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), allowing for a claimed quick focusing speed of just 0.1 second. Like the Redmi 3, the Redmi 3s also features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both cameras support Full HD video recording.

Additional noteworthy features include its fingerprint sensor and 4100mAh battery. The 4G LTE enabled phone also lists Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi (802.11 b / g / n protocol, support for 2.4GHz WiFi) as wireless connectivity options. It also supports USB OTG (On-the-go), allowing for easy access and transfer of media between the phone and external storage. The smartphone also has GPS + GLONASS connectivity.

Both the variants will be available in China from the 16th of June via mi.com. Details of a global rollout of the product are currently unavailable.
