New OTA for the OnePlus 3 to bring sRGB display mode and better RAM management

The OnePlus 3 is getting rave of attention and accolades from the consumers as well as the bloggers. However, AnandTech wasn’t impressed with the new Optic AMOLED display specifically. While the war of the words continued on Reddit, the OnePlus co-founder, Carl Pei, responded to the criticisms on the same thread.

Following that, Adam Krisko, the OnePlus Forums community manager posted in the OnePlus forums that a new sRGB (standard RGB) mode is in works and will be made available though an OTA (over-the-air) update. This OTA will appear as OxygenOS 3.1.4 for the OnePlus 3 owners.

The OnePlus 3 packing 6GB of RAM did drop many jaws but the initial adopters found that the phone doesn’t exactly utilise 6GB of RAM entirely. In defence, Pei stated that the RAM management with current OxygenOS 3.1.2 was done to get the best possible battery life. But as per the OnePlus forum post, the next OTA will address the RAM management woes as well.

OnePlus hasn’t given an fixed date to expect the OTA for the OnePlus 3 devices. In case you are still contemplating, do read our OnePlus 3 review to know more about it.
