Chinese smartphone brand Meizu was earlier rumoured to launch its next flagship smartphone – the Meizu MX6 – on the 19th of June. However, it looks like we will have to wait for a few more weeks till the official launch of the phone. Today, a prominent leaker of Chinese smartphones, @kjuma posted a photo on Weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter), revealing the specifications of the MX6.
The Meizu MX6 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch display and 1080p screen resolution. It might feature a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies. Under the hood could be a Helio X20 SoC, which includes a deca-core CPU and the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. Also it might come bearing 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
It looks like, at launch, the MX6 will come with Android Lollipop, which is a bit of a downer. That said, in an interview last month, Yi Peng, Meizu’s Lead ROM Manager, had mentioned that Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)-based Flyme OS – the company’s proprietary skin on top of Android – is in the works and is expected to be released in September.
The MX6 might come with a 4000mAH battery, and a fingerprint sensor like on the MX5. Another leak also suggested that the smartphone will support fast charging – a common feature in flagship phones these days. A rumour had also earlier stated that the 32GB variant of the MX6 might be priced at USD 275 (approximately Rs. 19,000) and the 64GB at USD 305 (approximately Rs. 21,000).
Interestingly, last year’s flagship – MX5 – is also expected to be upgraded with the Helio X20 processor. Do note that these are all rumours and should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, stay tuned for more information on the phone.
