Motorola is importing Moto Z Play (Vertex) in India for testing

Last month, Motorola’s top executive confirmed that the new Moto Z phones and Moto Mods accessories are expected to hit Indian market by September or October period. Motorola is importing the test units of Moto Z Play as per a listing at Zauba, India’s import and export tracking site, spotted by TechUpdate3. For those who’re catching up, Vertex is the internal codename of the Moto Z Play.

Lenovo unveiled the Motorola Moto Z phones at the Lenovo Tech World convention in San Francisco in the US. Crafted using military aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel frame, Moto Z phones measures only 5.2mm thick and reminds of the Motorola’s hit RAZR series phones.

When it comes to specs, Moto Z Play will be an iteration of the current Moto X Play. The Zauba listing states that the Motorola Vertex aka Moto Z Play features a 5.5-inch display. If rumours are to be believed, then the Moto Z Play will sport a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD resolution, a 16-megapixel primary camera, and 3,500mAh battery.

A recent citing of the Moto Z Play with model number XT1635 at the Geekbench listing revealed that the phone houses an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset and is armed with 3GB of RAM.

Zauba also lists indicative cost of Moto Z Play as Rs 5,724 which is almost 2.5 times lower than the launch price of the Moto X Play. Hence, we recommend you not to linger around that figure too much for now. The good news is that since the Moto Z Play is being imported for testing, its launch seems imminent.
