Samsung Gear S3 to be announced at September 1 during IFA 2016


Samsung released its first round smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2, during IFA 2015 last year. It received some pretty rave reviews in spite of it running the not-so-popular Tizen operating system. Now, the company is prepping to release the successor to the Gear S2 next month.

Samsung Gear S3: Launch Date

The Samsung Gear S3 will be announced at 18:00 CET on August 31, 2016 in Berlin right before the official commencement of IFA 2016. The Gear S3 is expected to come in three variants: Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Explorer, and Gear S3 Frontier. The upcoming smartwatch will also come with various new features geared towards fitness and sport enthusiasts.

The Gear S3 is expected to feature altimeter, barometer, and GPS in addition to the sensors found on Samsung’s current-generation smartwatch. It will compete with the upcoming Apple Watch 2, the Pebble Time 2, and various other Android Wear-based smartwatches that were released this year.

The Samsung Gear S2 (Sport) is being sold in India for ₹19,250, while the Samsung Gear S2 Classic is currently priced at ₹24,300 in the country. Apple Watch prices has been reduced by as much as ₹10,000-15,000 since their official launch in the country.
