IFA 2016, a technology trade fair, is set to start on September 2 in Berlin, Germany. Many consumer technology brands unveil their latest devices at IFA, and HTC is expected to unveil a new mid-range smartphone during the trade show. Dubbed HTC One A9s, the device looks dangerously similar to its rival Apple’s iPhone 6s.
HTC One A9s: Announcement Date & Specifications
According to a report by VentureBeat, the HTC One A9s will be unveiled on September 1, a day before IFA 2016 starts. The One A9s not only picks up Apple’s smartphone design, but also its naming convention. If you didn’t know it already, HTC released the One A9 last year, and it is now releasing its successor with the ‘s’ in its name.
Nothing is known about the HTC One A9s apart from its release date, colour variants, and the resolution of its cameras. The device will come with a 5-inch display, 13-megapixel primary camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and four colour variants: white, black, gold, and silver. We will report back with more details once it gets officially unveiled.
We think that HTC must have placed the sensors above the earpiece just to save themselves from a lawsuit from Apple.
As far as the design of the One A9s goes, the only factors distinguishing it from the iPhone 6s are the placement of its front-facing camera, the ambient-light and proximity sensors, and the HTC branding at its back. We think that HTC must have placed the sensors above the earpiece just to save themselves from a lawsuit from Apple. Also, the wide fingerprint sensor doesn’t go well with the overall design.
