Airtel has partnered with Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) to offer 4G data services through Wi-Fi on its Metro Luxury buses in Hyderabad. This service is being rolled out as a pilot project for a period of six months. Over 115 buses have already been equipped with free public Wi-Fi hotspots and are functional with this service.

For commuters to make use of this service, they will need to connect to Airtel 4G free Wi-Fi signal and enter their phone number, upon which they will receive a four digit OTP (One Time Password). Commuters will be able to browse the internet for a period of 20 minutes free of cost after which they will be prompted to buy a data pack of 100MB for ₹25. Users can carry out the payment through debit or credit cards.

To enable this service, commuters must have a valid Indian mobile number and a SIM that belongs to any service provider.

Venkatesh Vijayraghavan, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Bharti Airtel said,

At Airtel we consistently innovate and make investments that help us move closer to our vision of developing our cities into Smart Global Cities. The launch of complimentary Wi-Fi services on-the-go is a real step forward in modernizing the lifestyle of our citizens, whether business, education or pleasure.  This remarkable partnership with the Government of Telangana’s TSRTC is the largest in the country and will double the joy for travelers as it connects more Hyderabadi citizens than ever before.
