FiiO, the Chinese headphone amplifier and digital audio player manufacturer, is pretty popular among audio enthusiasts. The company makes one of the best portable headphone amplifiers and dedicated digital music players. Now, the company has launched the FiiO A5 portable headphone amplifier in India with a price tag of ₹8,999. However, it lacks an inbuilt DAC (digital to analog converter), so it can only amplify the sound from the source.
The FiiO A5 is the successor to the company’s E12 series of portable headphone amplifiers, and it comes with 3.5mm auxiliary ports for input and output. FiiO stuck with a combination of MUSES02 operation amplifier from NJR Semiconductors and LME49600 operation amplifier from Texas Instruments. There’s an 880mAh battery inside the A5, which is claimed to last up to 13 hours on a single charge.
The company claims that it has managed to achieve a THD (total harmonic distortion) of almost zero percent, an improved signal-to-noise ratio of 115db, lower the noise, improved channel balance, and improved overall audio quality. It also supports Hi-Res Audio. There are two levels of gain levels – high and low – that can be set according to the headphones being used. It weighs 168 grams and can be charged using its microUSB port.
