Gionee M2017 with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, 6GB RAM and a 7000mAh battery announced


Gionee announced a new feature-packed smartphone, the M2017, in China today. The device comes as the latest addition to the company’s M series of smartphones. It is being offered in two variants: a standard variant with 128GB of internal storage space and another high-end variant with an Italian custom alligator leather back with 256GB of internal storage space. Both variants are available for pre-orders in China.

Gionee packs the phone with high-end specifications such as a 7000mAh Polymer Li-Ion battery that has its own intelligent power management system and low power consumption display, and 6GB of RAMThe device comes with a 5.7-inch (2560x1440p) Quad HD AMOLED curved glass display that has sapphire glass protection. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor with Adreno 510 GPU. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a layer of the company’s Amigo OS 3.5 on top of it.


In terms of optics, the phone also boasts of dual rear cameras of 12-megapixels and 13-megapixels with an LED flash. At the front is an 8-megapixel camera. For network connectivity, the device supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, USB OTG, USB 2.0 Type-C. There is also a 7000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The phone offers up to 25 hours of continuous video playback and 915.42 hours of standby. The device measures 155.2×77.6×10.78mm and weighs 238g. 

The device is offered in two colour options: gold and black. In terms of pricing, one can see huge contrast between the two devices. While the standard variant is priced at 6,999 yuan (approximately ₹68,500), the high-end version which comes with Italian custom alligator leather back, comes for a staggering 16,999 yuan (approximately ₹1,65,000).

While there is no word yet on the phone’s availability in India, it could end up in the country soon.
