Oppo is looking forward to introducing a camera-centric smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2017. Oppo is putting up teasers on its social channels with a text – Go 5x Further. The company claims of introducing a 5x technology that will help capture great details in the images.
Oppo is the front runner of the Selfie smartphone culture with a couple of models such as F1, F1 Plus, and F1s in its kitty. Now the company plans to step up its game with a new technology to benefit smartphone photography.
The teasers mostly ramble about the 5x project without any mention of specific details. Could it be a new selfie smartphone with 5x Zoom capabilities? Probably.
The dual camera setup at the back is quickly becoming a trend among smartphone markets. Oppo might be taking a nose dive in that as well.
Sky Li, VP, OPPO, MD of International Mobile Business & President of OPPO India, commented:
OPPO’s relentless pursuit of perfection without compromise has given birth to a remarkable technological breakthrough that will change how the world perceives smartphone photography. This remarkable achievement is the result of an extensive, year-long R&D process, combined with OPPO’s unparalleled expertise in smartphone imaging technology. We chose MWC to unveil the ‘5x’ technology with the belief that we can inspire the industry to aim higher, and continue to create pioneering products that give amazing experiences to consumers.
Last year at the MWC 2016, Oppo announced the SmartSensor with the world’s smallest Optical Image Stabilisation technology. It was the first sensor-based three-axis image stabilizer in the smartphone industry.
