The entry of Jio has led to other carriers vastly rethinking their strategies in the market. A few days ago Airtel announced free roaming in the country and also slashed international roaming rates. Now, Idea is joining the party and has declared that it would also offer roaming free in the country starting from April 1.
As mentioned above, this roaming deal will be effective starting April 1, and will give Idea customers the ability to access calls across 400,000 towns without incurring roaming fees. The free roaming plan will be implemented for both prepaid and postpaid customers.
In addition to these, Idea has also unveiled special packs for travelers which will offer 400 outgoing minutes and 100 SMS a day. This new pack will be equipped with free 1GB/2GB/3GB data, and overages will be charged at ₹3 per MB. The same plan is also offered by Airtel which similarly decreased its international calling plans by up to 90 %, bringing it down to ₹3 per minute for calls, and Rs.3 per MB as overage charges.Idea’s travel lite pack will start from ₹1,199, and will offer for ten days validity. For those that need more data usage, there are plans that cost ₹5,999 that offer 30 days validity.
