Xiaomi Redmi 4A to launch on March 20 in India


Amazon India has teased a new Redmi smartphone ahead of the Xiaomi event in India on March 20. The teaser also confirms that the upcoming Redmi device is an Amazon exclusive. The “Time to get Smarter” tagline on Amazon is same to the Xiaomi invite that was rolled out earlier. Although, the teaser does not confirm the name of the device but its more or less certain that the smartphone in question is the Redmi 4A.


As for hardware, the Redmi 4A which is wrapped in a premium looking metal body features a 5-inch HD screen. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset with a 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 processor and Adreno 308 GPU, which is accompanied by 2GB of RAM. For memory, the Redmi 4A offers 16GB of built-in storage, which is expandable using a microSD card (via a hybrid SIM slot).

For photography, the Redmi 4A sports a 13-megapixel primary camera, accompanied by a single LED flash. Up front, it comes with a 5-megapixel camera. There is no fingerprint scanner on the Redmi 4A. It is fuelled by a 3,120mAh battery. The smartphone runs MIUI 8 based on Android Marshmallow.
