Last we heard about it, Google announced that the Android Wear 2.0 update would be rolled out to smartwatches in the “next coming weeks” but didn’t mention an exact date for the roll out. Today, Google announced that Android Wear 2.0 has finally begun to roll out to smartwatches. This announcement was made by Ernest a Community Manager at Google through the company’s forum pages. The smartwatches that will be getting the update right now are Fossil Q Founder, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch and Tag Heuer Connected. While the update will arrive via an OTA starting today, Google estimates that all users of these smartwatches will receive it by April 4. Here’s the post:
The first watches that are getting Android Wear 2.0 via OTA update are the following watches:
Fossil Q Founder

These watches are starting to get OTA today and should roll out to all users by 4th April.

The original Huawei Watch was also reported to receive the update a couple of weeks ago but it was later disclosed that the update was only for testers and not for the public at large as yet. We’ll only have to wait and watch when Google is ready to roll out the Android Wear 2.0 update to the rest of the smartwatches.
