Airtel launches Internet TV, a hybrid DTH set top box in India


Airtel Digital TV launched Internet TV, an Android TV box which offers up to 500 satellite TV channels today. It comes built-in with Netflix, YouTube, Google Play Music, Google Play Games, and Airtel Movies. It has a chromecast built-in, so you can stream content from your phone or laptop easily. You can use Google Voice Search to search for movies or TV shows by speaking into the remote. Using the GamePad app, you can use your smartphone as a controller for playing games. 

For connectivity, the device offers Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO (2.4/5.0 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1 LE. It has a Ethernet port, HDMI 2.0 with HDCP2.2, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. It also supports 4K content. It is also compatible with Dolby Surround Sound Audio.

It is priced at ₹4,999 for a three month Digital TV subscription. The company is also offering a limited period offer of ₹7,999 for one year subscription for all HD and SD channels, three months for Eros Now, and one month for  Netflix. Do note that once this period ends, all SD channels will be available at ₹500 per month, and all HD and SD channels for ₹700 per month. In case you already have a subscription to Airtel Digital TV you can upgrade to Internet TV for ₹3,999. Airtel is also offering up to 25GB of data for your Airtel broadband when you register for myHOME on the MyAirtel app.

However, do note that the Airtel Internet TV requires a broadband or a 4G hotspot connection with minimum speeds of 4Mbps for smooth connection. It comes with a regular Airtel Digital TV dish antenna.
