Gionee is soon going to introduce an iteration of its security centric M-series phone this year. The company is sending out invites for the launch of the Gionee M6S Plus on April 24. We expect this phone to fall under the mid-range segment just like its predecessor models – Gionee M6 and Gionee M6 Plus.
Last year, Gionee introduced the new M6 and M6 Plus focused majorly on the security features. Now the first iteration of those handsets is set to launch with purported enhanced security features.
The Gionee M6S Plus event invites do not reveal much details except a large fingerprint image. We expect Gionee to continue using the same grade of security and encryption features used in the M6 and M6 Plus.
We reported about spotting Gionee M6S Plus listed at TENAA last month. As per that listing, Gionee M6S Plus will feature a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution. An octa-core 2GHz processor will power this phone and is coupled with 6GB of RAM. By default, it will boot Amigo OS based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and that might be a minor setback.
Offering 64GB storage, the M6S Plus will feature 12-megapixel rear snapper to capture images and videos. Meanwhile the 5-megapixel camera on the front will help with selfies and video calling. The phone supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and offers a headphone jack for connectivity. Apart from the security centric fingerprint scanner, the phone’s another highlight is its 6,020 mAh battery.
Gionee M6S Plus is set to debut on April 24 in China.
