In addition to the launching the world’s thinnest convertible notebook, Asus today took the wraps off its latest MacBook Pro rival, the ZenBook Pro UX550. Just like the ZenBook Flip S, the ZenBook Pro is a gorgeous device that is thinner as well as lighter than most of its competitors. The notebook boasts an 18.9mm thin chassis and weighs in at just 1.8kg.

The notebook comes with a 15.6-inch 4K touch-enabled display with 178-degree viewing angles and a 72% NTSC color gamut coverage. Asus has trimmed the bezels around the display, maximizing the actual display area.

The ZenBook Pro UX550 is powered by a 7th Gen Intel Core i7 H-series quad-core processor and packs NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics for fantastic multimedia and decent gaming performance on the move. It can be configured with up to 16GB of DDR4 memory and 1TB of PCIe x4 SSD storage. To ensure the CPU and GPU run cool at all times, Asus uses a dual-fan cooling solution. In the connectivity department, the UX550 includes 2x USB Type-C port (one with Thunderbolt 3 spec), a full-size HDMI 1.4 port, and a microSD slot.

The backlit keyboard on the UX550 comes with 1.5mm key travel, while the multitouch-enabled glass trackpad features a fingerprint reader at the top. In the audio department, the notebook comes with a quad-speaker setup certified by Harman Kardon. For a 15.6-inch notebook, the UX550 delivers phenomenal battery life. Asus claims the notebook can last up to 14 hours, that’s twice as long as its predecessor. Along with improved battery life, it boasts quick charging as well, allowing the battery to achieve 60% charge in just 49 minutes.

The ZenBook Pro UX550 will be going on sale in July this year with a starting price of $1,299. (Rs.83,800). Depending on the configuration, it will be shipping with either Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Home operating system.
