At the on-going Computex 2017, ASUS is finally unveiling the ultraportable ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490 with 12.9mm-thick chassis. Announced first at the CES 2017 in January, the ZenBook 3 Deluxe boasts of a 14-inch display despite being a 13-inch laptop. ASUS achieved that by managing 7.46mm wide bezels to accommodate more real estate. In a way, it competes with the Apple MacBook Air.
The ASUS ZenBook 3 Deluxe ultraportable is constructed using the aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, which is 50 percent stronger than the usual alloy. Though it is a 13-inch ultraportable, it uses a 14-inch NanoEdge LED-backlit display to provide more real-estate. However, the screen carries 1080p native resolution and 60Hz refresh rate.
The display covers 100% sRGB colour gamut and offers an impressive 1000:1 contrast ratio. There’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for scratch resistance.
The ZenBook 3 Deluxe has two variants. One packs a dual-core 2.5GHz seventh generation Intel Core i5-7200U processor with 3MB Cache, 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM clocked at 2133MHz and 256GB SSD. While the other variant has a dual-core 2.7GHz seventh generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor with 4MB Cache, 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM clocked at 2133MHz and 512GB or 1TB of PCIe SSD storage.
The ZenBook 3 Deluxe has two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports that can support charging the ultraportable and there is a one USB 3.1 Type-C port.
ASUS preloads Windows 10 on top of this ultraportable, and it has a fingerprint scanner for security. The ASUS ZenBook 3 Deluxe will sell for $1,199 (about Rs 77,500) for this month end onwards.
