Samsung is rolling out a new firmware update for the Galaxy S8+ users. The new OTA update adds the June Security Patch for the phone along with a couple of changes. So far, the new firmware is hitting the users located in Europe and India.
Samsung released a firmware update to address the red tinting issue in select Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ units in India. Now the firmware upgrade measuring 453MB in file size brings the June security patch. We recommend you install this update at the earliest since address about 96 vulnerabilities in the Android OS. Details on the nature and severity of those vulnerabilities are scarce.
The OTA upgrade also adds a new Navigation Bar, and you can fix or hide the app icons on the left-hand side of the navigation bar. Hiding the app icons will give you more real estate to see. The background colours will automatically set to default colour, and the range of choosing a different has changed.
After this update, you will be able to take better panoramic images using the camera app. To check for new updates, head to Settings app on your Galaxy S8+ and scroll to select About Device > Software Update. In case you don’t get the update there or a pop-up notification, rest assured for it will hit your phone in a day or two.
