Xiaomi is gearing for the launch of a bunch of new devices this year, but the most anticipated smartphone of them all is Mi Mix 2. It has been confirmed that the Mi Mix 2 is under development. Philippe Starck, the designer of the Mi Mix, has visited Xiaomi headquarters to discuss about the upcoming phone. The company’s founder and CEO Lei Jun had put up a photo on Weibo with Xiaomi staff, hinting that they had a discussion about the Xiaomi Mi Mix successor. The launch date has not yet been revealed but the phone could be unveiled in Q4 2017.
No one currently knows the specifications of the device. The Chinese firm might use the most powerful processor from Qualcomm which would be available at that time. The Mi Mix 2 is rumoured to come with a fingerprint sensor that’s embedded into the screen, but neither Apple nor Samsung have been able to develop that feature successfully yet. The device is assumed to have a screen-to-body ratio higher than Mi Mix’s 91.3%. It might run on Android 7.0 or Android 8.0, in case it gets launched by Google before the final stages of development of the Mi Mix 2.
