Chinese smartphone maker Coolpad has started teasing the launch of the Cool Play 6 smartphone for the Indian market. The company’s Indian arm has confirmed on its Facebook page that the smartphone will be launched on the 20th of this month. Coolpad Cool Pay 6 made its debut back in May in its home market of China and packs impressive specs for a mid-range smartphone. It is priced at 1,499 yuan in China, so we expect it to be priced somewhere around the Rs.15,000 mark in the Indian market.
The Coolpad Cool Play 6 sports a metal unibody design, giving it a premium appearance. Like most mid-range Android smartphones on the market, the Cool Play 6 features a 5.5-inch sized in-cell display with 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution. Under the hood runs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor clocked at 1.95 GHz, with an Adreno 510 GPU. One of the key highlights of the smartphone is the 6GB of RAM that it comes equipped with. In terms of storage, the handset includes 64GB of onboard memory, which can be expanded further via a microSD card.
Apart from being equipped with 6GB of RAM, the Coolpad Cool Pay 6 also boasts a dual-camera setup with two 13-megapixel sensors sourced from Sony. The primary 13MP sensor integrates phase detection autofocus, a dual-tone LED flash and a 6P f/2.0 aperture lens. For selfies, the smartphone offers an 8MP front-facing camera coupled with an f/2.2 aperture lens. Connectivity wise, the Cool Play 6 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with GLONASS, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. Keeping the lights on is a large 4060mAh capacity battery, which Coolpad claims can deliver up to 9 hours of browsing and 8 hours of video playback time. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with the manufacturer’s custom skin on top.
