ZTE sub-brand Nubia today launched the M2 Play budget Android smartphone in India. The smartphone made its debut back in June this year in China. In India, the M2 Play has been priced at Rs.8,999 and will be available exclusively online via Amazon India very soon. It will only be available in a single color in India – Black.
The Nubia M2 Play features a 5.5-inch 720 x 1280 HD resolution display with 2.5D curved glass on top. Below the display is a home button with the signature Nubia red circular home button. The home button also houses a fingerprint scanner. Nubia M2 Play runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4 GHz with the Adreno 505 GPU. The octa-core 64-bit SoC has been coupled with 3GB of RAM, which is quite impressive for the price. In terms of storage, the M2 Play includes 32GB of internal storage. While there is no dedicated microSD card slot, you can add a microSD card for further expansion thanks to a Hybrid Dual SIM configuration.
Nubia M2 sports a 13MP camera at the rear, integrating hybrid focus (phase-detection autofocus + CAF) and an f/2.2 aperture lens. The company claims the M2 Play rear camera can achieve focus in just 0.1 seconds, which is no doubt very impressive for a budget smartphone. To help take photos in extreme low-light conditions, you get an LED flash as well. The front-facing camera is a 5MP unit with an f/2.4 aperture 84-degree wide-angle lens. Connectivity specs include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy, GPS with GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Power users aren’t likely to be impressed, but the 3000mAh capacity battery of the M2 Play should please most users out there. On the software front, Nubia M2 Play runs on the Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with the company’s Nubia UI 5.0 custom layer running on top.
