Last week, Samsung began to roll out the Nougat update for the Galaxy J7 Prime in India. The company has now shifted focus to two of its newest A-series smartphones, the Galaxy A5 (2017) and the Galaxy A7 (2017). The Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update for these two smartphones is now being rolled out in India, weighting in at a hefty 1.4GB in terms of size.
The Nougat update arrives as firmware version A520FXXUBQI5 for the Galaxy A5 (2017) and A720FXXU2BQI2 for the Galaxy A7 (2017). As with other mid-range Galaxy smartphones that have received the Android 7.0 update, the update for the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) includes quite a few new features and an updated UX. Apart from the usual Android Nougat goodies, you can also look forward to improved usability of the Notification feature and Quick settings button, improve Multi-window, Dual Messenger function, Samsung Pass, as well as improvements related to the Settings Menu and the Always-on Display feature. In addition to these, you can also expect the usual bug-fixes and stability improvements.
As is usually the case with major update rollouts such as this one, some of you will need to be patient as it might take a few days for the Nougat OTA update to hit all Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) units in India. Ideally, you should receive an automatic update notification asking you to download and install the update. If you do not see any such notification, you can try looking for the update yourself by heading over to the Settings Menu. If the update is ready for download, do make sure you connect to a Wi-Fi network before you begin downloading it. It is also a good idea to charge your smartphone before installing the OTA update.
Have you received the Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update on your Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) or Galaxy A7 (2017) yet?
