Apple Watch Series 3 debuts with 4G LTE connectivity and faster dual-core processor

Along with the new iPhones, Apple also introduced the new Watch Series 3 at its keynote in Cupertino. The new Watch Series 3 lets you do a lot more without having to pair it with your iPhone. Perhaps the biggest highlight of the new Watch Series 3 is that it comes with cellular connectivity. With an eSIM, it can share the same phone number as your iPhone, allowing you to make or receive phone calls even when your iPhone isn’t with you. More interestingly, it is the display of the smartwatch that acts as the antenna to receive 4G LTE as well as 3G signals. When paired with Apple AirPods, Apple Music subscribers will be able to stream over 40 million songs right from the Watch Series 3.

The Watch Series 3 runs on Apple’s S3 dual-core processor that helps deliver quicker app launch times, superior graphics, as well as enabling Siri to speak using the built-in speaker. There is also a new W2 custom wireless chip that is claimed to make Wi-Fi 85% faster and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 50% more energy efficient. Thanks to the new hardware inside, the Watch Series 3 can provide all-day battery life while being the same size as before. To help the smartwatch track activity battery, Apple has added a barometric altimeter that helps with flights climbed and outdoor workouts involving elevation gain.

Apple’s latest smartwatch runs on the watchOS 4 operating system, which comes with a number of new features such as an updated Heart Rate app, proactive Siri watch face, enhanced workout app with a new UI, custom High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout type, and auto-sets for pool swims. You will even be able to receive a notification whenever your heart rate is elevated above a specific threshold while you are physically inactive.

Apple Watch Series 3 now comes in silver, space gray aluminum, and a new gold aluminum color, along with silver or space black stainless steel cases. They all can be paired with a new lineup of band colors and styles. As for case sizes, the new Watch Series 3 will be available in 38mm and 42mm versions.
