Earlier this month, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus made an appearance on the TENAA website, revealing their battery sizes. More recently, iFixit’s teardown confirmed that the iPhone 8 packs an 1821mAh capacity battery while the iPhone 8 Plus is equipped with a 2691mAh capacity battery inside. Today, the iPhone X was spotted on the TENAA website, revealing a slightly bigger battery than the one inside iPhone 8 Plus.
According to the TENAA listing, the iPhone X comes with a 2715mAh capacity battery, very slightly larger than the iPhone 8 Plus. For consumers, this doesn’t really mean much at all, since Apple claims the iPhone X delivers battery life slightly lower than the iPhone 8 Plus. Usually, devices with the same battery capacity are more or less identical in the battery life department, so it does seem a little strange. While the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus both are claimed to provide up to 21 hours of talk time, the iPhone X has a lower browsing time of up to 12 hours compared to 13 hours on the iPhone 8 Plus. When it comes to video playback time, Apple’s website suggests the iPhone X can provide up to 13 hours of playback while the iPhone 8 Plus delivers an hour more. However, both iPhones do support fast charging and a quick 30-minute charge is enough to charge the batteries to the 50% mark.
