Xiaomi Group Vice President and Managing Director of its India operations, Manu Kumar Jain today confirmed that the company’s latest flagship Mi MIX 2 will be launched in India on the 10th of this month. The India launch event will be held in New Delhi. In case you haven’t heard yet for some odd reason, the Mi MIX 2 was announced last month at an event in China. Its predecessor, the Mi MIX, was not launched here in India, so we’re definitely excited for the Mi MIX 2 launch. Similar to the original Mi MIX, the new model boasts a class-leading screen-to-body ratio.

In China, the Mi MIX 2 comes in two variants – one packing 6GB of RAM and the other packing a whopping 8GB of RAM. The 6GB RAM version with 64GB of storage is priced at 3299 yuan (Rs.32,300 approx.), while the 8GB RAM Special Edition version with 128GB of built-in storage is priced at 4699 yuan (Rs.46,000 approx.). At this point, it isn’t clear if Xiaomi will be bringing the 6GB RAM version to India or the Special Edition model. While Xiaomi enjoys almost unrivalled popularity in the budget and lower mid-range segments in India, it remains to be seen if the Mi MIX 2 will be able to lure buyers away from smartphones such as the OnePlus 5 with its impressive ‘bezel-less’ front.

The Mi MIX 2 features a 5.99-inch 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution display with 18:9 aspect ratio and DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. It runs on Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.45 GHz, coupled with an Adreno 540 GPU and up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. At the back, the Mi MIX 2 sports a 12MP resolution snapper with 4-axis optical image stabilization and 4K video recording. The selfie camera on the front is a 5MP unit with facial recognition capabilities and Full HD video recording. Rest of the highlights include all the latest connectivity features, fingerprint sensor, and a 3400mAh capacity battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
