Airtel launched its 4G VoLTE services in India last month, starting with the Mumbai circle. More recently, it launched the VoLTE service in Madhya Pradesh and Chhatisgarh. The private telecom operator has now rolled out the service in Maharashtra and Goa as well, making it possible for Airtel subscribers in the two states to make voice calls over the 4G network to enjoy HD quality voice calls.
Needless to say, you will need to have a 4G VoLTE enabled device and an Airtel 4G SIM in order to use the VoLTE service. Calls made over the 4G VoLTE network will be charged according to a subscriber’s existing plan or pack benefits. You will not be charged any additional data charges for making VoLTE calls. In case there is no 4G network, calls will automatically switch to Airtel’s 3G or 2G network. Apart from superior quality voice calls, the 4G VoLTE network will also allow subscribers to continue accessing 4G data even while they are on a call.
If you are an Airtel subscriber and live in either Maharashtra or Goa, you can head over to the Airtel 4G VoLTE page to check if your smartphone is compatible with its 4G VoLTE network. If your phone is listed as being supported, you will need to make sure you update to the latest available software version in order to make VoLTE calls.
In addition to 4G VoLTE, Airtel has also deployed 4G Advanced Carrier Aggregation technology in both states, enabling download speeds of up to 135 Mbps.
We are delighted to launch VoLTE and add yet another service to our portfolio enabling customers to make the most of their mobile phone experience on our world-class 4G network across Maharashtra and Goa. With VoLTE, customers can now enjoy seamless and high-quality voice calls on our robust 4G network, said Rohit Marwha, Chief Executive Office – Maharashtra & Goa, Bharti Airtel.
