Samsung has announced its new rugged tablet offering, the Galaxy Tab Active 2, following a plethora of leaks over the past few weeks. There are a lot of other tablets that you can buy in the same price range with similar specifications, but Samsung has implemented Bixby Home and Bixby Voice features in the Galaxy Tab Active 2, which makes this an interesting device. The tablet has been announced for the Netherlands.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2: Price
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 will be sold for EUR 500 (about Rs. 38,164) starting late November. There’s no official word from Samsung regarding the tablet’s launch in markets outside of the Netherlands.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2: Features & Specifications
The Galaxy Tab Active 2 sports an 8-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1200 x 800 pixels. The screen features a high-sensitivity mode that allows you to use the tablet with gloves on. Under the hood, the device is powered by a 1.6GHz Exynos 7880 chipset along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage space. Additionally, you also get an option for storage expansion via a microSD card slot. The Galaxy Tab Active 2 runs Android 7.1 Nougat with Samsung Experience UI on top.
The Galaxy Tab Active 2 comes with an S Pen stylus. The tablet also features military standard MIL-STD-810 certification for resistance against drops. It also comes with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. There’s a fingerprint sensor that’s embedded into the home button of the Galaxy Tab Active 2. In the imaging department, there’s an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front shooter on the tablet.
It will be available in both the Wi-Fi and 4G + Wi-Fi variants, and will only be sold in Black. Naturally, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 is designed for those who are into industrial work or for those who go out on remote sites with harsh conditions. The company has partnered with brands like Gamber Johnson, iKey, Koamtac, and Otterbox to make certified accessories for the Galaxy Tab Active 2. IBM Maximo will bring asset management features to the tablet.
