1

It has been almost three months since Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 8, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is already in works. There have been a number of leaks and predictions on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, and this is what we know so far.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Display

The display is where we see the biggest change on the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s QHD+ (2960×1440) display, the Note 9 will have a whopping 4K (4320×2160) resolution in its 6.3-inch dual-sided curved screen. The screen will have 18:9 format for a bezel-less view, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for impact protection. The display carries forward the same class-leading, Super AMOLED technology with HDR10 and Dolby Vision support.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Camera

In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will have 12MP dual camera setup. However, the sensors will be new for an improved overall performance. Among the two 12MP sensors, the first one will have regular FoV, i.e. 26mm, whereas, the second 12MP sensor will have 2x zoomed FoV, i.e. 56mm. The dual camera setup not only gives the users the ability to capture zoomed image without any loss in quality, but it will also provide an option to capture images with DSLR-like bokeh effect. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will also have 4K/60fps video recording out of the box.

As for the front-facing camera, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will have an increased resolution of 12-megapixels, and it will also feature phase-detection autofocus technology, which will most probably fix the current issue of slow focusing found on the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+, and Note 8.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Performance

Samsung has recently unveiled a few details about its upcoming processor, the Exynos 9810 in a press release. We strongly believe that this new processor will debut in the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The Exynos 9810 will have an octa-core configuration, with four high-performance cores, and four power-efficient cores. According to Samsung, the Exynos 9810 has the third generation of its custom cores, an improved GPU, and a faster LTE Cat. 18 modem for an overall improved performance. The Exynos 9810 will be based on second generation 10nm process, which will improve the efficiency and consistency of the processor. The Galaxy Note 9 will also feature an increased RAM capacity of 8GB, compared to the Galaxy Note 8’s 6GB. The storage capacity is also likely to be bumped to 256GB to compete with the Apple iPhone X.

In the software department, the Galaxy Note 9 will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with Samsung’s custom theme. We assume that Samsung will not heavily change the current custom theme, as the company has recently made major changes to the UI. Currently, Samsung’s custom UI is among the most feature-packed and good looking user interfaces.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Battery

Samsung will definitely increase the battery capacity on the Note 9 in order to cope with the higher energy consuming 4K display. We assume that the battery capacity will be somewhere around 3600mAh, similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. As before, the smartphone will feature 15W fast wireless charging. However, there is a high chance that the device will be equipped with an even faster wired charging, most probably the device will have USB power delivery standard.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Connectivity

The Samsun Galaxy Note 9 will feature a newer modem as we mentioned above, which will be capable of reaching 1.2Gbps speed on the cellular network. The device will also feature Bluetooth v5.0 with aptX HD, and dual-band Wi-Fi ac with MIMO.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Design and build quality

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 already had a futuristic design with minimum bezels. However, the Note 9 will definitely carry an even better design with trimmed bezels and slim waist-line. However, the weight of the device may be increased due to the increased battery capacity. The Note 9 will also most likely carry forward the glass back design.
