Just last week, OnePlus rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo-based OxygenOS Beta 27/18 update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones. The company has now started rolling out the stable OxygenOS 5.0 update, based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Since it is a major update, OnePlus will be releasing it in stages, so most of you will need to be patient for now.
Some of the highlights of the first official Android Oreo OTA update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T include the following:
- Update to Android O (8.0)
- Added Parallel Apps
- Added Picture in Picture
- Added Auto-fill
- Added Smart text selection
- New Quick Settings design
- Updated security patch to September
- Added notification dots
- New app folder design
- Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus
While the above changelog only lists build-specific changes, those of you who weren’t a part of the Oreo beta program will, of course, notice a lot more changes once you install the OxygenOS 5.0 update on your device. In addition to the core Android 8.0 Oreo features, OxygenOS 5.0 too brings quite a few new features to the table. Some of these include a Picture-in-picture mode, OnePlus Parallel apps, September Android security patch, new Quick Settings design, notification dots, Auto-fill, and the ability to upload photos directly to Shot.
As we already mentioned above, the OxygenOS 5.0 update will be rolled out in stages. Since it is a major update, it could take several weeks for the company to finish the rollout. Whenever the update does become available here in India, you can expect to receive an automatic notification asking you to download and install the latest update. Before you download the update, it is recommended that you connect your device to a Wi-Fi network. Also, don’t forget to check if your device has sufficient battery charge left. You shouldn’t install the update in case your OnePlus 3 or 3T has less than 50% charge remaining.
