Huawei has sent out invites to a media event to be held in Beijing, China on the 7th of December. The company will be launching the successor to Nova 2 at the event, dubbed the Nova 2S. In terms of design, the upcoming Nova 2S will be very similar to the Huawei Mate 10 Lite, which was launched in India as the Honor 9i in October.
Huawei Nova 2S: Features and Specifications
Just like most mid-range Android smartphones launched recently, the Huawei Nova 2S will feature a 6-inch FullView display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, Nova 2S will be powered by the HiSlicon Kirin 960 chipset, a flagship chip from last year. So while the Nova 2S might appear to be very similar to the Honor 9i from outside, it is significantly more powerful. The powerful Kirin 960 chipset will be paired with 6GB of RAM, which should allow it to deliver a multitasking experience on par or even better than many flagship Android smartphones.
At the rear, Nova 2S is going to feature a dual-camera setup with 20MP and 16MP sensors. Selfie lovers will no doubt be impressed with the handset, thanks to a 20MP dual-selfie camera setup on the front. In terms of software, the smartphone will be running on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box, with Huawei’s custom EMUI 8.0 layered on top.
Will Huawei Launch the Nova 2S in India?
While the Nova 2 did not make it to the Indian market, there is a small chance of Huawei bringing the Nova 2S to the Indian market, albeit with a completely different name. With the Honor 9i priced at Rs.17,999 in India, the company definitely needs a “bezel-less” offering above the Rs.20,000 mark to take on devices such as the OPPO F5. With the powerful Kirin 960 chipset and 6GB of RAM, the Nova 2S can certainly rival the OPPO F5 6GB RAM variant in India, provided the company can get the pricing right.
