Acer introduces new Swift 3 notebooks powered by AMD Ryzen Mobile

Acer has quietly launched two laptops powered by AMD’s Ryzen Mobile processors. The new Acer Swift 3 models run on AMD’s Ryzen Mobile 2500U and Ryzen Mobile 2700U processors. Both the laptops feature a 15.6-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution and sport a stylish exterior with metal construction.

The AMD Ryzen 5 2500U processor powering the Acer Swift 3 SF315-41-R8PP NX.GV7AA.003 model features four cores and eight threads with a 2.0 GHz base clock and 3.8 GHz Turbo frequency. Acer Swift 3 SF315-41-R6J9 NX.GV7AA.004, on the other hand, is powered by the Ryzen 7 2700U with four cores and eight threads with a 2.2 GHz base clock and 3.8 GHz Turbo frequency. Both the chips have a 15W TDP rating, 2MB L2 cache, and 4MB L3 cache. When it comes to graphics, the Ryzen 5 2500U features a Vega 8 iGPU with 512 stream processors clocked at 1100 MHz, while the Ryzen 7 2700U features a more powerful Vega 10 iGPU with 640 stream processors and a 1300 MHz clock speed. Both models come equipped with 8GB of DDR4-2133 RAM but differ from one another in terms of storage. The Acer Swift 3 SF315-41-R8PP NX.GV7AA.003 features a 256GB solid state drive, while the Acer Swift 3 SF315-41-R6J9 NX.GV7AA.004 features a 512GB SSD.

In terms of connectivity, the two notebooks include 2x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, 1x USB 2.0 Type-A port, 1x USB 3.0 Type-C port, 1x HDMI 2.0a output, an SD card reader, and a TRRS connector for audio output + microphone input. The exact wireless module hasn’t been revealed but the spec-sheet does say that the two models offer support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.x.

The AMD Ryzen Mobile-based Acer Swift 3 SF315-41-R8PP NX.GV7AA.003 is now listed on the Acer US website for $750 (Rs.48,000 approx.), while the more impressive SF315-41-R6J9 NX.GV7AA.004 model has been listed at $950 (Rs.60,800 approx.). Both the models are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks.
