Chinese smartphone maker OPPO could soon unveil a new budget Android smartphone with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The upcoming smartphone, christened the OPPO A85, has been certified by TENAA in China. TENAA has also certified another variant of the smartphone, dubbed the A85t. Both the A85 and A85t are identical in terms of specs as well as design.
The OPPO A85 will come with a 5.7-inch TFT LCD display with 720 x 1440 HD+ resolution, resulting in a pixel density of around 282 pixels per inch. Under the hood, it will be running on an octa-core SoC clocked at 2.5 GHz and paired with ample 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the TENAA listing reveals the handset will ship with 32GB of built-in storage.
Moving on to imaging, the OPPO A85 is listed to be equipped with a 13-megapixel primary camera at the rear and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Keeping the lights on will be a 3090mAh capacity non-removable battery. In terms of dimensions, the OPPO A85 measures 150.5 x 73.1 x 7.7mm and weighs in at 143 grams. The smartphone will be available in two colors at launch – Gold and Black. As for software, the A85 is going to launch with the Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system out of the box, with OPPO’s ColorOS running on top.
As you can see in the images above, the A85 does appear to share a lot in common with the F5 in the design department. The back panel is very similar as well, although the A85 doesn’t feature a fingerprint sensor. This, along with the specs of the handset, makes it quite clear that the A85 will be a very affordable device. While there is no word on the smartphone’s release date just yet, we do hope OPPO brings it to the Indian market in the near future.
