Tecno Mobile, which is owned by China-based Transsion Holdings, has launched its latest smartphone, the Tecno Camon i, in India today. The newly unveiled Camon i is the first smartphone from the company which has an 18:9 display. The smartphone offers some entry-level specifications, and is being offered at a moderate pricing. It will go on sale early next month.

Tecno Camon i: Price, availability

The Tecno Camon i will be available in  Champagne Gold, City Blue, and Midnight Black colour variants. It is priced at Rs. 8,999, and will go on sale through offline outlets starting the first week of February 2018. Given the pricing and specifications of the device, it will compete with the likes of the Redmi Note 4 in India.

Tecno Camon i: Features

The Tecno Camon i sports a 5.5-inch FullView screen with HD+ resolution (1280×720 pixels) and 2.5D curved glass. The screen has 18:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3  protection. The device uses a MediaTek MT6737 processor with 1.3GHz quad-core and Mali-T720 GPU. It comes packed with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded through the microSD card slot. Sadly, the handset runs more than a year old Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with company’s own HiOS.

As far as its imaging goes, the phone features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, and quad-LED flash. There’s a 13-megapixel shooter at the front as well, which is accompanied by an LED flash. Connectivity-wise, the Camon i offers dual-SIM card slot, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 3.5mm audio port. The whole package is powered by a 3050mAh battery.
