LG has announced a new refrigerator – LG InstaView ThinQ, at CES 2018, under its ThinQ brand-name, which features a 29-inch touchscreen LCD display that becomes transparent when you knock at it twice. The new refrigerator was showcased alongside LG’s smart kitchen products which include the LG EasyClean oven and the LG QuadWash dishwasher.
As mentioned earlier, the new LG InstaView ThinQ features a 29-inch touchscreen LCD display that transforms from a computer display into a transparent window with just two knocks. The refrigerator offers a food management system using LG’s webOS platform, and features Alexa’s voice recognition technology. A Smart Tag feature allows you to add stickers, tags, and expiration dates to food stored in the fridge, and the feature issues alerts as an item reaches its expiration date. Additionally, the refrigerator is fitted with a wide-angle PanoramaView camera on the inside that lets you check the contents of the refrigerator via your smartphone.
The LG InstaView ThinQ refrigerator is capable of making recipe recommendations based on the stuff you have stored inside the refrigerator. LG’s range of smart kitchen products are also capable of communicating with each other. So, if you happen to own LG’s EasyClean oven as well, your refrigerator can send the recipe information over to your connected oven and help you cook food with Alexa verbally guiding you through each step of the process. The new InstaView ThinQ refrigerator also lets you access and listen to your favourite songs on Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, and other music streaming services.
Speaking about LG’s new range of smart kitchen solutions, Song Dae-hyun, President of LG’s Home Appliance & Air solution Company said, “The seamless connectivity inherent in LG’s smart kitchen solution will revolutionize the cooking and dining habits of consumers. By streamlining food preparation and cleanup from start to finish, LG’s use of artificial intelligence in the kitchen enhances quality of life by offering innovative solutions to everyday struggles in the kitchen.”
LG announced the ThinQ brand to identify all of its 2018 home appliances, consumer electronics, and services that utilise artificial intelligence. Products under the LG ThinQ brand make use of deep learning technology to communicate with one another by employing a variety of AI technologies from LG’s partners as well as the company’s own DeepThinQ AI technology.
