Xiaomi has expanded its laptop lineup by launching a refreshed version of an older laptop model. The Chinese electronics and internet brand has released an upgraded version of the Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch variant with an upgraded CPU. It now comes with Intel’s 8th generation Core i5 and Core i7 processors, promising a compelling performance increase. Apart from that, there’s nothing new in this latest laptop and it is still exclusive to the Chinese market.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3-Inch: Price, availability

Priced at CNY 5,399 (approximately Rs. 53,800), the laptop will go on sale through Xiaomi’s website and its delivery will start from January 24, 2018. The laptop will be available only in China, and the company hasn’t released any information if it would launch the device in India.

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3-Inch: Specifications

The refreshed Mi Notebook comes with a 13.3-inch 16:9 display with Full HD screen offering a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display has a pixel density of 166 ppi, wide viewing angle of 170-degree, a brightness of 300nits, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The laptop is powered by Intel’s 8th generation Core i5-8250U (3.4GHz) and Core i7-8550U (4GHz) processors paired with 8GB of DDR4 RAM. It comes packed with 256GB of PCIe SSD storage and also has an option of external hard disk as well as SD cards. For gaming and other day-to-day tasks, there’s a NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card with 2GB GDDR5 memory. On the software front, the laptop runs Windows 10 Home Edition.


Connectivity features of the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch include Bluetooth 4.1 support, dual-band 802.11 b/g/n, and a one-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling. There’s also a USB-C port, HDMI port, and a 3.5mm audio port. The whole package is powered by a 40-watt Li-ion battery with a claimed battery life of up to 9.5 hours. The keyboard offers backlight and there’s also a fingerprint sensor to wake up or unlock the laptop using the trackpad. Dimensions-wise, the laptop measures 309.6×210.9×14.8mm and weighs around 1.3kg. This laptop will be available only in Dark Gray colour.

There are currently no details about Xiaomi’s possible plans to release its laptop lineup in the Indian market. However, given the pricing and its specifications of Xiaomi’s laptops, they compete directly with Apple’s MacBook lineup and Dell XPS lineup.
