Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5 detailed Specifications Leak ahead of Tomorrow’s Launch

We had known from the past few days that Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of the Redmi Note 5 and its first Mi TV in India on February 14. The Chinese smartphone maker had already sent out invites for the launch event and it has been teasing a few details about the upcoming products. However, it couldn’t keep the devices a secret till the launch. We now know exactly what the company is going to launch tomorrow, and the detailed specifications of the products, including the Redmi Note 5 and the Redmi Note 5 Pro have been leaked on Twitter. Let’s check out all these specs ahead!

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: Specifications

Going by the promotional banner which was leaked by Ankit Chugh on Twitter, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will feature a 5.99-inch IPS LCD screen with 18:9 aspect ratio, Full HD+ resolution (2160×1080 pixels), and 2.5D curved glass protection. The screen will have a maximum brightness of 450 nits, 84% NTSC colour gamut coverage, and 1000:1 contrast ratio. The phone will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset (2GHz octa-core + Adreno 506 GPU). It will be available in two variants:

  • 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage
  • 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage

Both these variants of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will have a microSD card slot for storage expansion. They will run MIUI 9 software that is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Moving on to the imaging capabilities of the phone, it will come with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture, phase-detection autofocus, and 4K video recording. At the front, the 5-megapixel camera will handle with soft-LED flash can handle selfies even in low-light conditions. The phone will be powered by a 4000mAh battery, similar to its predecessor.

The phone will also feature rear-facing fingerprint reader, hybrid dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm headphone port. It will be available in Black, Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold in India. Prices could start at Rs. 9,999, but we will get to know official pricing at the launch event tomorrow.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro: Specifications

Coming to the higher-end model in the Redmi 5 series, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, will sport the same display as that of the Redmi Note 5, which means that you will get a 5.99-inch IPS LCD screen with Full HD+ resolution (2160 × 1080 pixels), 18:9 aspect ratio, and 2.5D curved glass display. The major changes will be in terms of processor and rear-facing camera setup. The phone will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor with 1.8GHz octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. Furthermore, the phone will come in three variants:

  1. 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage
  2. 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage
  3. 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage

Speaking about the cameras on the phone, there will be a 12MP+5MP dual-camera setup at the rear. The primary sensor will have phase-detection autofocus, 1.25μm pixel size, ƒ/2.2 aperture, and 4K video recording. The secondary sensor will have 5-megapixel resolution, fixed-focus lens, and ƒ/2.0 aperture. At the front, there will be a 20MP selfie camera (Sony IMX376 sensor) with fixed-focus lens, soft-LED flash, Beautify 4.0 algorithms, and 1080p video recording. All the other features, including the fingerprint reader, connectivity and battery capacity will be similar to that of the Redmi Note 5.
