Moto Z2 Force vs OnePlus 5T vs iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus: Specifications, features, and price in India compared

OnePlus 5T vs. Motorola Moto Z2 Force vs. Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus vs. Apple iPhone 6s- Specifications, features, and price in India compared

When it comes to buying a new smartphone in Rs. 30,000 price range, people usually tend to go with the OnePlus 5T or the Apple iPhone 6s, as there was no other strong competitor. Recently, Motorola has launched the Moto Z2 Force, and Samsung has launched the Galaxy A8+, both of which compete directly with the OnePlus 5T and the Apple iPhone 6s. So, let us have a brief comparison and see if the two new contenders can beat the segment leaders.

Moto Z2 Force vs OnePlus 5T vs iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus: Display

The OnePlus 5T has a 6.01-inch display, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus has a 5.99-inch display, the Moto Z2 Force has a 5.5-inch display, and the Apple iPhone 6s has a 4.7-inch display. The OnePlus 5T and the Galaxy A8+ have a bezel-less design, which gives them an edge over the Moto Z2 Force and the Apple iPhone 6s, which still carry an old bezel design. In terms of display quality, the OnePlus 5T and the Galaxy A8 Plus come with Super AMOLED displays, which again gives them an advantage over the Moto Z2 Force’s P-OLED display and the Apple iPhone 6s IPS LCD display. However, the display of the Moto Z2 Force is a shatterproof unit. So, if you are among the people who drop their smartphones frequently, you’ll benefit better from the Z2 Force’s display.

Moto Z2 Force vs OnePlus 5T vs iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus: Camera

The OnePlus 5T and the Moto Z2 Force come with a dual-camera setup, opposed to the single primary camera on the Galaxy A8 Plus and the Apple iPhone 6s. The OnePlus 5T has a 16MP + 20MP resolution, and the Moto Z2 Force has a 12MP + 12MP resolution. During our tests, the OnePlus 5T performed well in daylight and lowlight conditions. However, the same cannot be said for the Moto Z2 Force. Though the Moto Z2 Force has dual-pixel autofocus that the OnePlus 5T misses out on, it still struggles to focus sometimes.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus has a dual front-facing camera instead of dual primary cameras. We’ve been using the Galaxy A8 Plus for a past few days, and we’ve found the image quality from front-facing camera to be better than that of the OnePlus 5T and the Moto Z2 Force. As for the primary camera, the device features a 16MP sensor with phase-detection autofocus. Although we are glad that Samsung has equipped its mid-range smartphone with phase-detection autofocus, the Galaxy A8 Plus doesn’t perform quite as good as the OnePlus 5T or the Moto Z2 Force. Nonetheless, the device can capture daylight and lowlight images with good details and punchy colours.

Moving on to Apple iPhone 6s, the device comes with a 12MP primary camera. The image quality from the primary camera is better than that of the Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus, but the device still lacks behind the OnePlus 5T and the Moto Z2 Force, due to the lack of a dual-camera setup. Also, the iPhone 6s has the lowest resolution front-facing camera, 5MP to be precise, due to which it has the lowest selfie image quality among all the four smartphones.

Moto Z2 Force vs OnePlus 5T vs iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus: Performance

The OnePlus 5T and the Moto Z2 Force come equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. While the OnePlus 5T has 6GB and 8GB RAM options, the Moto Z2 Force is available only with 6GB RAM. Both the smartphones have Android 8.0 Oreo OS, and we found both the smartphones to be similarly fast and smooth.

The Galaxy A8 Plus comes with an in-house developed Exynos 7885 SoC, which is way less powerful than the Snapdragon 835 SoCs in the other two Android devices. The lesser powerful processor shows its weakness; the device isn’t as fast or smooth as the OnePlus 5T or the Moto Z2 Force. The Apple iPhone 6s sports Apple A9 SoC, which is quite powerful, and a well-optimised OS, due to which the Apple iPhone 6s has a silky smooth UI navigation and blazingly fast performance.

Moto Z2 Force vs OnePlus 5T vs iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus: Battery

The Motorola Moto Z2 Force takes the crown in the battery backup comparison; it lasts way more than the other three smartphones in the comparison. The Moto Z2 Force has a 2700mAh battery and a 3500mAh battery case, which results in two days of battery backup with 9-10 hours of screen-on time.

The OnePlus 5T sports a 3300mAh battery, and the Galaxy A8 Plus has a 3500mAh battery. Even though the Galaxy A8 Plus has a larger battery, it gives similar battery backup as the OnePlus 5T; both the smartphones can last one and a half day with around 5-6 hours of screen-on time.

The Apple iPhone 6s has the smallest battery capacity among the four smartphones, and even though the hardware and OS are power-efficient, the iPhone 6s lacks behind the other three smartphones in the battery backup. The device can last one day on moderate usage with a full charge.

Moto Z2 Force vs OnePlus 5T vs iPhone 6s vs Samsung Galaxy A8 Plus: Verdict

All the four smartphones in the comparison have their advantages and disadvantages. The OnePlus 5T has a better camera and a better display than the Moto Z2 Force, but it lacks behind the Z2 Force in terms of battery backup and rigidity. The Galaxy A8 Plus has a better display than the Z2 Force, and it even comes with the waterproof design, but it lacks behind the other three smartphones in camera and performance departments. Lastly, the Apple iPhone 6s has better performance and better camera than the Galaxy A8 Plus, but it lacks behind the other three smartphones in display and battery backup.

However, if we had to choose one, we would go with the OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 5T may not have the rigidity or the longer lasting battery of the Moto Z2 Force, but it has a better camera, and a better display, which are more important for the normal user.
