Mid-range smartphones have been ruling the Indian smartphone market for quite some time. Priced under Rs. 20,000 there many great offering from companies like Xiaomi, Motorola, Vivo, and Nokia. Keeping various lineups in mind, we decided to do a comparison including one smartphone from each brand. We are going to compare the Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Moto X4, Nokia 7 Plus, and the Vivo V7 Plus.
Mi Note 3 vs. Moto X4 vs. Nokia 7 Plus vs. Vivo V7 Plus: Price in India
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is expected to launch in India in early 2018. The expected pricing of the device is Rs. 17,999. The Moto X4 on the other hand is priced at Rs. 20,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB Storage variant, the 4GB RAM/64GB Storage variant is priced at Rs. 22,999 and the 6GB RAM/64GB Storage variant costs Rs. 24,999. The Nokia 7 Plus will also be launching over a month or two, its expected pricing is Rs. 19,999. Lastly, the Vivo V7 Plus is priced at Rs. 19,382.
Mi Note 3 vs. Moto X4 vs. Nokia 7 Plus vs. Vivo V7 Plus: Display
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 401 PPI pixel density and 1980×1080 pixels resolution. The Nokia 7 Plus is most likely to come with a 5.5-inch Full HD TFT display bearing 1080×2160 pixels resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio. The Moto X4, on the other hand, comes with a 5.2-inch IPS LCD with 1080×1920 pixels resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 424ppi pixel density. While the Vivo V7 Plus features a 5.99-inch display with 720 x 1440 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. All the four devices have decent display specifications, however, the Nokia 7 Plus is yet to launch so we can’t really pit it up for the win.

The Xiaomi Note 3 sports a 12MP+12MP dual rear camera setup with 4-axis OIS, f/1.8 aperture lens, 2x optical zoom, and dual-tone LED flash. On the front, it has a 16MP camera with AI beautify features. The Nokia 7 Plus is rumored to feature 12MP+13MP dual rear camera setup with dual pixel phase detection autofocus, Carl Zeiss lens, dual-LED dual-tone flash, and support for 4K video recording at 30fps. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and full HD video recording support.
The Vivo V7 Plus comes with a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), LED flash, and 1080p HD video recording support. There is a 24MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 lens and an LED flash. Lastly, the Moto X4 features a 12MP+8MP dual rear camera setup with phase detection autofocus (PDAF), dual-tone LED flash, Dual-Pixel Autofocus, and support for 4K video recording. On the front, it has a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash.
All the smartphones fair well in this segment, however, the Vivo V7 Plus lacks the dual rear camera setup that is present on the other three phones.
Mi Note 3 vs. Moto X4 vs. Nokia 7 Plus vs. Vivo V7 Plus: Performance
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is powered by an Octa-core 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 14nm 64-bit chipset paired with Adreno 512 GPU and 6GB RAM. There is 64GB/128GB internal storage on the device, depending on the variant. The device runs Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. The Nokia 7 Plus is rumored to come powered by Qualcomm MSM8956 Plus Snapdragon 660 chip with Adreno 512 GPU. It will be available in two variants 4GB RAM/64GB storage and 6GB RAM/64GB Storage. It may come with Android 8.0 Oreo.
On the other hand, the Vivo V7 Plus is powered by a 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset with Andreno 506 GPU. It features 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and runs Android 7.1.2-based FunTouch OS. While the Moto X4 comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core 630 SoC with Adreno 508 GPU and runs Android 8.0 Oreo. The RAM and storage on the device depends on the variant one goes for – 3GB RAM/32GB Storage, 4GB RAM/64GB Storage, or 6GB RAM/64GB Storage.
Mi Note 3 vs. Moto X4 vs. Nokia 7 Plus vs. Vivo V7 Plus: Verdict
Since we do not know at the price of the Nokia 7 Plus and whether Mi Note 3 would launch in India or not, we will be giving the verdict on the Moto X4 and the Vivo V7 Plus. Looking at the specs comparison of the two, the Vivo V7 Plus comes up as a better option with more affordable price tag than the Moto X4.
