In exactly a week from now, Mobile World Congress 2018 will officially kick off in Barcelona, Spain. Ahead of the big event, leaks related to several upcoming smartphones surfaced online today. New renders of the upcoming Samsung flagship duo were shared online by leakster Roland Quandt, giving us yet another look at the familiar design before their official unveiling. New rumors regarding some upcoming Nokia smartphones also cropped up on the web today, hinting at the possibility of a new camera-centric flagship. Speaking of flagship smartphones, ASUS’ upcoming ZenFone 5 has been spotted on AnTuTu, confirming the presence of an iPhone X-like notch on top. Read on for all the details.
More Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ press renders leaked
Just days before Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in Barcelona, more press renders of the company’s upcoming flagship Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ were leaked on the web today. The latest renders show the two smartphones in multiple colors, highlighting the minor design differences compared to their predecessors. Leakster Evan Blass, on the other hand, posted the first press render of the Titanium Gray Galaxy S9. Along with the renders, an almost complete spec sheet of the two handsets has also been leaked online, courtesy of leakster Roland Quandt. The Galaxy S9 will feature a 5.8-inch 1440 x 2960 Quad HD+ Infinity Display, Samsung Exynos 9810 2.9 GHz octa-core SoC / Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 2.6 GHz octa-core SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB UFS 2.1 internal storage, 12MP rear camera with f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture lens, 8MP selfie camera with f/1.7 aperture lens, and a 3000mAh capacity battery. Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will sport a bigger 6.2-inch 1440 x 2960 Quad HD+ Infinity Display, 6GB of RAM, dual 12MP + 12MP rear camera, and a beefier 3500mAh capacity battery. Rest of the specs remain identical to the Galaxy S9.
Nokia 8 Pro with Snapdragon 845 rumored
An exclusive report from NokiaPowerUser claims HMD Global is planning to release a new flagship smartphone dubbed the Nokia 8 Pro later this year. The report suggests the device will be a camera-centric one and may feature a penta-lens camera at the back. Further, the report claims the Nokia 10 is not under development and the rumored Nokia 10 could actually be the Nokia 8 Pro. Apart from an impressive camera system at the back, Nokia 8 Pro will also feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. In terms of design, the Nokia 8 Pro is said to utilize an 18:9 display and feature a glass sandwich design similar to the upcoming Nokia 8 Sirocco.
Nokia 4 to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC
Apart from the Nokia 8 Pro, a new rumor has shed some more light on the upcoming Nokia 4 smartphone. According to the new rumor, the Nokia 4 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC under the hood. If the rumor is indeed accurate, the Nokia 4 will be more powerful than both the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones. There is no word yet on when the Nokia 4 will be officially unveiled but there is a small chance that HMD Global will introduce the smartphone at its MWC 2018 press conference this Sunday.
ASUS ZenFone 5 leak reveals iPhone X-like notch
The upcoming ASUS ZenFone 5 smartphone made an appearance on AnTuTu this past weekend, revealing an unusual aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 845-powered flagship smartphone will feature a 1080 x 2246 resolution display, hinting at a notch on top of the display. ASUS’ next flagship will also include 6GB of RAM and just 32GB of built-in storage. The ZenFone 5 Z01RD, along with the rest of the ZenFone 5 lineup, is expected to be officially unveiled at the company’s MWC 2018 press event on February 27 in Barcelona.
Sony releases MWC 2018 teaser
Sony Mobile today released a teaser video for its MWC 2018 event in Barcelona. The short 23-second video doesn’t really tell us much except hint at a curved display or perhaps a new design language with a focus on curves. Sony is expected to announce the Xperia XZ2 flagship smartphone at the upcoming event, featuring a 4K resolution display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, and 6GB of RAM. Sony’s MWC 2018 event will be held on the 26th of this month, i.e. next Monday.
