A lot of buzz was created for Xiaomi’s new releases for the year, and we were finally introduced to the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro last week. And now its time for leaks and rumours to build buzz for the upcoming Moto G6. Nokia isn’t one to be left behind because they have a lot of models lined up for release this year as well. We will hopefully get our hands on the devices after Mobile World Congress which is coming up soon, but let’s take a quick look at the upcoming phones and compare them against an excellent phone from last year. We’re talking about a comparison of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the upcoming Motorola Moto G6, the Nokia 6 and the Mi A1. We start off by comparing price tags.
Redmi Note 5 Pro vs. Moto G6 vs. Mi A1 vs. Nokia 6: Price in India
The Redmi Note 5 Pro was released on the 14th of this month and is currently priced at ?16,999 for the high-end variant. The Moto G6 is expected to launch at the end of this month or early March, and the phone is expected to cost around ?15,000. The Mi A1 is an Android One phone which was launched in September last year and is priced at ?13,999. The Nokia 6 (2018) too is slated for a February/March release and is expected to be priced at ?16,999, like the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Redmi Note 5 Pro vs. Moto G6 vs. Mi A1 vs. Nokia 6: Display
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is equipped with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display that offers a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels with a density of 403ppi. The Moto G6 is rumoured to have a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen offering the same resolution as the Redmi Note 5 Pro, but with 424ppi of pixel density. The Mi A1, in comparison, sports a 5.5-inch LTPS IPS LCD display and offers a resolution of 1080×1920. The pixel density of the Mi A1’s display is 403ppi. Finally, we have the 2018 variant of the Nokia 6 which comes with a display that has the exact same specs as the Mi A1 — a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1080×1920 at 403ppi.
While the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Moto G6 offer 18:9 aspect ratio, the Mi A1 and Nokia 6 offer displays with the standard 16:9 ratio. All the phones come with Gorilla Glass protection.
Redmi Note 5 Pro vs. Moto G6 vs. Mi A1 vs. Nokia 6: Performance
The Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core 1.8GHz Kryo 260 SoC, with an Adreno 509 GPU for graphics. Comparatively, the Moto G6 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core 1.8GHz chip, which has an Adreno 506 for graphics duties. The Mi A1 features the highly efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core 2.0GHz processor, whereas the rumours indicate that the Nokia 6 (2018) will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core 2.2GHz chip.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro offers 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Moto G6 will offer 4GB RAM paired with 64GB of internal memory, in comparison. The Mi A1 is available with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage as well, whereas the Nokia 6 will offer 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro offers Android 7.1 currently but should get an MIUI update for version 8.0 soon enough. The Moto G6 will ship with Android 8.0, whereas the Mi A1 already offers an update to Android Oreo. The Nokia 6 will offer a similar OS, namely, the latest version.
Redmi Note 5 Pro vs. Moto G6 vs. Mi A1 vs. Nokia 6: Camera
The Redmi Note 5 Pro comes with a 12MP (f/2.2) + 5MP (f/2.0) dual setup on the rear. The Moto G6, too, features a dual camera array on the back, and current information indicates its a pair of 12MP+5MP shooters. The Mi A1 too offers a dual lens rear setup — two 12MP snappers let you take pictures with bokeh effects. The Nokia 6 (2018) skips the trend and offers a 16MP f/2.0 camera on the back. While all the phones can record 1080p video at 30fps, the Mi A1 lets you take 4k videos at the same frame rate.
On the front, the Redmi Note 5 Pro offers a monstrous 20MP f/2.2 selfie snapper. The Moto G6 will come with a 16MP f/2.0 front camera, whereas the Mi A1 offers a comparatively meek 5MP selfie taker on the front. The Nokia 6 (2018) will sport an 8MP f/2.0 front camera.
