The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are up for an official launch in two days. For fans of Samsung and Android enthusiasts in general, this is a big deal because of how amazing Samsung’s flagship devices are. But one wonders, how will the S9 Plus perform in comparison with some of the excellent smartphones already available in the market? We decided to compare the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus against the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 Plus, so we could decide which the best phone is. Let’s start off by comparing prices.

As mentioned earlier, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is up for a launch in a couple of days, and the expected price for this phone is approximately Rs. 64,999. The iPhone X was launched in September 2017 and is currently priced at Rs. 83,499 for the base version. The iPhone 8 Plus was launched at the same time as the iPhone X, and currently carries a price tag of Rs. 65,999.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is rumoured to sport a 6.2-inch super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440×2960 pixels with a density of 531ppi. Comparatively, the iPhone X offers a 5.8-inch super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1125×2436 with a density of 458 pixels per inch. The iPhone 8 Plus is equipped with a 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD screen and offers HD resolution (1080×1920) at 401ppi of pixel density. While the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has an aspect ratio of 18.5:9, the iPhone X offers 19.5:9. The iPhone 8 Plus has an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Samsung device offers Gorilla Glass 5 protection, while the iPhones too offer strengthened glass for the displays.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will come equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor in USA and China but will offer the Exynos 9810 Octa (4 x 2.9GHz + 4 x 1.9GHz) processor in all other countries. The iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus both feature the same processor: the Apple A11 Bionic hexa-core 2.39GHz chip. You can rest assured that these chips are the best in the industry and most of the tasks you do on your phone will be smooth as butter.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus offers 6GB RAM and 128GB internal memory, with the ability to add expandable memory up to 256GB. The iPhone X offers 3GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, which is the same as what the iPhone 8 Plus gives you. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will ship with the latest version of Android (Oreo, 8.0), just as the iPhones offer the latest version of iOS: version 11.2.5.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will feature a dual camera on the rear, 12MP twin lenses that work in tandem to let you take pictures with an impressive depth of field. These specs are exactly the same as the iPhone X’s rear camera specs, as it too offers dual 12MP cameras in an array. The iPhone 8 Plus clearly didn’t want to be left behind as it offers two 12MP shooters in a dual camera setup as well. All these phones feature optical image stabilisation and phase detection autofocus for rapid focus times. These three phones can record 4K (2160p) videos at 30fps.

On the front, the S9 Plus has an 8MP f/1.6 selfie shooter, whereas the iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus both sport a 7MP f/2.2 front camera. The S9 Plus will offer an iris scanner on the front, whereas the iPhone X has a 3D camera module on the front for Face ID.
