The chipset on the device is good enough for gaming needs and snappy performance. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box and may soon get upgraded to Oreo. A 4000mAh battery backs the Redmi Note 5.
The Redmi 4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC that may not be as snappy and powerful as the Snapdragon 625 SoC on the Redmi Note 5. It does not mean that the SoC is weak, but not as fast when compared with a higher variant. The phone features 2GB/3GB/4GB RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB storage that depends on the variants. It runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9. It is backed by a 4100mAh battery.
The Redmi 5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which is better than the Redmi 4 but still behind the Redmi Note 5. It runs Android 7.1 Nougat-based MIUI 9 and is backed by a 3680mAh battery.
As obvious from the comparison above, the Redmi Note 5 yet again qualifies as the winner with its better SoC and battery.

The Redmi Note 5 sports a 12MP rear camera with better video and image quality than the other two phones. Of course, that’s because the Redmi Note 5 launched a few weeks backs while the other two are quite old. It bears a better camera sensor with phase-detection autofocus and dual-tone dual-LED flash. On the front, it has a 5MP selfie snapper.
The Redmi 4 comes with a 13MP rear camera geared with phase-detection autofocus and a 5MP front-facing camera. Quite similarly, the Redmi 5 features a 16MP rear camera with an LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front.
Well, all the three phones lack 4K video recording. But when it comes to choosing one in the three, then the Redmi Note 5 seems like a better option, mainly due to its newer sensor and LED flash.

The Redmi Note 5 is priced at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant and Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant. Whereas, the Redmi 4 comes with a price tag of Rs. 6,999 for the 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant, Rs. 8,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage model and Rs. 10,999 for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant.
Xiaomi has not launched the Redmi 5 smartphone in India yet, and there is no confirmation from the company whether it will bring the device to India or keep it limited to China. The expected pricing for the Redmi 5 in India is Rs. 10,999.
