Huawei sub-brand Honor has kicked off the EMUI 8.0 beta program for its budget Honor 7X smartphone, which has been receiving great response from consumers around the world lately. For now, the Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 beta is only available in four European counties – France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. Needless to say, the beta build is far from perfect, so you cannot expect a completely smooth experience after installing it. That said, enrolling in the beta program will allow you to explore all the new features before most other Honor 7X owners.

How to Join the Honor 7X EMUI 8.0 Beta Program

In order to join the Honor 7X EMUI 8.0 beta program, you will first need to download the beta apk from the Honor website. You can download the beta apk from the links below:

Honor 7X owners in the US can sign up for the beta program by filling out a Google Form at this link. While Honor hasn’t confirmed it officially, it is being speculated that the EMUI 8.0 beta will be made available to Honor 7X users in a few other regions as well in the near future.


Once you sign up for the beta program, you will receive the Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 beta update via the OTA route on your Honor 7X.

As you would expect, EMUI 8.0 does include pretty much all the core Android 8.0 Oreo features such as notification dots, new emojis, picture-in-picture mode, and more. In addition to these, EMUI 8.0 also includes a number of Huawei-specific features aimed at providing a smoother and more intuitive experience to users. Some of the key changes include a new floating navigation dock, new home screen shortcuts, AI-based optimizations, faster boot up, more responsive system performance, latest security updates, and a Portrait mode that lets users capture attractive selfies with bokeh effects.
